COMIC FIESTA 2016

This year's venue is shit.

I bought the early bird tickets in Kinokuniya this time 'round, and a week after that bad news came: major project for my compulsory PEC subjects falls on the 17th. At least till noon anyway. It made me anxious for the whole duration before the project. I am so so tired.

The event ended at 1:20pm and I rushed so that mom can fetch me to the nearest train station to board the 1:45pm train. I got on, it was about 40 minutes journey, reached there, 10 minutes walk and when I finally reached there... I was lost. I got to the ticket counter and cannot find where to go next. Apparently they didn't utilize the venue, instead everything is in a nearby sports court. WTF. I spent 10 minutes looking for the entrance and another 20 minutes searching for the artist booths lmao. THIS YEARS VENUE IS SHIT.

My shopping theme for this year is 'zines/fanbooks/illustration books' because I'm broke and if I were to buy anything it would be books>charms>badges.

DAY 1

I only spent ~40 minutes in the artist booth because damn I need to get back home soon. I have projects to work on!


I've always loved kiDChan's works. I was her fan since 2008 I guess?? I was a wee child then! But since I did not have any social media until I was legal I didn't know she had?? Illustration books???? I'm so shook! Last year I spent the most (RM 80) on Meyo's booth for her daisuga charms and fan zines but last year aint got nothin on this year: a total RM127 spent on a booth!


I recently found this artist on Twitz, and hey she's selling illustration books! I'm going to see if there's anything I want!


Haha blame Khadi for dragging me (and many others) into JJBA hell. Now I thirst for JOJO!!!!!


Got these haram stickers. And the only cat keychain left... Since I was late anything YOI related is sold out so I gotta settle with Voltron in Ceni's booth.


I missed the HQ! charms during the last convention, so it's nice to be able to get one of my OTP (iwaoi, but since it's a promo of 2 so I gotta get a kuroken one). Yue and Aiko aint got nothin I want (they be sellin prints, Aiko got some badges but I have enough of those), so I got KH charms. Why not?

While walking out of PWTC I saw these two cosplayers as Noct and Luna and??? I'm so emotional? I stopped at my tracks, contemplating if I should go and ask for a picture but shy and anxious me didn't. So. I'm so dumb. Now I'm sad.

DAY 2

I spent all of my month's allowance on day 1. All of them. What to do??? As I was moping around near the ATM machine I flipped through my cards and... hey is... is that my BSN card??? I still have RM200+ inside??? HELL YES!

I never thought I'd be saved by national service allowance lmao.

I saw this on Yue's booth. It was a black variety, but I did not buy it because I was unsure... then I was browsing for more books to buy and ahahaha TALESS???? YES PLZ


MAIN FOCUS OF CF: LOKA MADE CF EXCLUSIVE ILLUSTRATION BOOK. It was a promo with the bigger RM90 book but I didn't have money left so yeah. I'll just have this one thanks.

This years CF was a pretty uneventful one for me since the venue is shit, Reika and Baozi&Hana are here but the queue is long as shit, photo books all sold out. I promised myself to get pictures of cosplayers but I only managed to get one (A LUCA COSPLAYER OMG HOW MANY PPL EVEN KNOW AR TONELICO), and it's not even in CF, it's outside!

Anyways my new years resolution for conventions is to 1, take pictures of cosplayers; 2, spend less in small conventions; 3, buy more books; 4, stop being dumb.

Let's hope the next year will be a more delightful one.

Events, Events Everywhere...

You know when I said University life is hectic as hell since I have 3 laboratory reports, multiple assignments and now even extra-curricular points to worry about! MSU is making my life easier by making us go to events as our compulsory assignments and projects... but still... this week is a physical stamina trainwreck!

ROUND 1: DMC RAPPORTEUR

I'm working with the 'top' students in this event: the Student Representative Council, aka "prefects" and oh god are they top students! I swear they don't eat or sleep. I have 2 lab reports due, but every day I only get to go home at 7pm +, so I didn't have any time to print shit. I'm just a smol committee tryin' to hustle ok!

The whole convention lasts three days: the first day was a holiday, so everyone is expected to be there to do their jobs. I drove to school before the sun is even up (without breakfast!). I got the morning session, the job was pretty easy. Had lunch with everyone, we fooled around for a bit on stage ("which comes first: the chicken or the egg??") before we were assigned to lead participants to their workshops. Everything was super tiring because there was nothing to do and we had to run around a lot.

I did not do much on the second day because I had class all day except in the morning. So I finished my slot in the morning and went to class as usual... then there's a stupid announcement on flash mob practice at 6pm, which would most probably extend until 9pm+... and it did. When I got back I finished half of my lab report and left the other half for the next day.

The last day was ok because I just need to be there for the closing ceremony. What sucked was that I brought many bags and it was a hassle. We took a bunch of pictures, joked around, mom came to fetch me home and I slept like a log.

Tl;dr, my team is awesome.

ROUND 2: WORLD AIDS DAY FLASH MOB

PEC800 students have been practicing for this flash mob since a month ago, and only by 15th December we get to execute this shit. Technically it was because of last minute flash mob practices AND rapporteur jobs that made the day so packed. During our last two practice sessions it was a full-on rehearsal, and our flash mob was at the very end, so we had to sit through 3~4 hours of boring shit before our turn.

Brought my laptop to finish my lab report while waiting for our turn to perform. Managed to finish everything, all that is left were to print it out and bind it. The flash mob was not so much of a surprise anymore because of sudden technical issues with the music (lmao), so I'm kinna like "FOR REAL??? I DIDN'T PRACTICE A MONTH FOR THIS TO HAPPEN???" and also we were required to wear red. Everyone would be suspicious if everyone wore red. Anyway the dance was awesome, I enjoyed myself, and I enjoyed it even more when afternoon class was canceled so I attended DMC closing ceremony.

ROUND 3: PEC MAJOR PROJECT

This one takes the cake for being extremely annoying and making me 100x anxious. This fell on exactly 17th December, and guess what also falls on the same day??? COMIC FIESTA DAY 1.

I was going to sell my ticket but no one wanted it... haha I didn't pay RM25 for nothing so yep I'm going to CF after my project, dirt and sweat and all!

Nothing really interesting happened except for the final event. We were going to play a tug of war to determine the winning team. Let's just say our team is... the least ideal team. We only had two guys, one is a professional dancer, the other a lazy bum, both are average built. We have no big-sized girls, all of us were either tiny or tall and lean or chubby. The opposing team had at least 5 guys, at least one was big-sized. They won in a landslide. We were totally annihilated. When the game started we were immediately pulled forward, we were (literally) flying, our feet were not even on the ground, I fell, bruised my arm and bum, my friend peeled the skin on her palm. It was BRUTAL.

ROUND 4: HEALTH SCIENCE WEEK

We have to set up a booth and make 3D models of the major human systems. This was known since a month ago, as our assignment for Anatomy and Physiology subject. So me and a classmate did a mechanism model instead of a 3D one, but all worked out, our lecturer was meh. Since ours involve a lot of water all I can say our model was in the verge of collapsing at the end.

There was a talk about organ donation and the speaker asked: "Are yall scared of organ donation?" and I'm like "Pfffttt what's there to be scared about" Apparently most people didn't know that organ donation takes place after you dead. Like????? Huh????? Kidneys and liver can be donated when a person is still alive but other organs???? People don't use common sense???? They had a Q&A session with really easy questions. The problems lies if you dare to step out to answer on the microphone. If you do you get a t-shirt. I did. The colour was nice.

The second day is just a prize giving ceremony. It was supposed to end on that day, but somehow the following day our lecturer had to judge a video competition so we're like???? We wanna study plz???? We ended up being in the same hall to watch videos about traditional medicine.

After all these events we need to write reports and hand them in within a week haha goodbye life, see you in 2017.

STAND BY ME

THIS WHOLE WEEK HAS BEEN A TRAINWRECK

You'd think that after YOI ep 7 nothing can top that haha well guess again ep 9 features a heart wrenching airport marriage proposal wtf asdfghjkl and the preview mentions 'something round and golden', which is a medal but guess what is also round and golden? A WEDDING RING. There was also a church background so yeah we were hoping they can get married...


Reality? EP 10 stepped up their game with none other than: WEDDING RINGS OMG and a church scene where they put the rings on each other??? And Victor said they're going to get married after Yuuri wins gold???? There are also super sexy and funny dance off pictures during the credits. Now we know that Victor didn't become Yuuri's coach on a whim guys... Hahah lmao lemme lie down on the floor and cry ok

Final Fantasy XV has been out for a week. Of course people have finished the game, and I was contemplating on whether or not I should watch spoilers because for once I am determined to let the game surprise me (rarely happens, even with LR I knew what would happen), but I finally gave in to temptation and watched spoilers on YouTube. Ahahaha what a bad decision that was.

 SPOILERS BELOW!!!!

You know how all the hype was built on a happy coming-of-age roadtrip with bros??? The interactions between Noct and Luna that make us go all 'awww' in the kokoro? Prompto's amazing selfie skills? Haha you better enjoy whatever they give you in the first half of the game because lmao everyone is getting rekt in the second half!

It is already known that Noct and Luna are to wed in Altissia. It's a pretty romantic place, like Venice. I am SO EXCITED that finally after so much teasing from SE about their relationship Noct and Luna are going to meet! They haven't seen each other for 8 years??? How will they interact I'm so hyped for it... and look at what happened.

Levaithan gets super pissed, Noct is knocked unconscious and Luna, when trying to help him gets herself stabbed by none other than Ardyn, the chancellor of Niflheim. At first I was 'ehhh Luna probs will make it' until she appears in Noct's dream and gets engulfed by grabby smoke.


She gives the ring of Lucis (Regis entrusted it to her before he got dunked) to Noctis, fulfilling her role. The track "Love Lost" plays, tears were shed, 'NO!'s were shouted, handkerchiefs were used... it... was not great kids. Noct wakes up with a visually impaired Ignis notifying him that Luna has passed. Hahahaha not cool SE, not cool.

Noct mopes around, Prompto has identity issues, Noct gets sucked into the crystal and coma/hibernates for 10 years. 10 FUCKING YEARS. And here I thought the whole of the game takes place in a span of 10 years?! I am disappoint! Noct wakes up to save the world, fights Ardyn... and Ardyn says something that made me have war flashbacks.

"When your beloved died..." FUCK YOU ARDYN WHOSE FAULT IS THAT AND NOW UR STABBING ME WITH WORDS LIKE BELOVED FUCK U

Noctis kills Ardyn once and for all with the Kings of Lucis, the ring decomposes as Noctis dies in limbo. Bros are assumed to be dead too defending Noctis from daemons.

In the end, everybody dies, just like in Kingsglaive. :)

The screen fades to black, the opening dialogue of the game is repeated, "Stand By Me" plays, a scene before the end credits roll. Noctis cannot describe his feelings for his bros and breaks into tears. "APOCALYPSIS NOCTIS" plays and the epilogue?


Yeah Noct and Luna get married in the afterlife. :) And the genius is the last scene where Luna lies next to Noct, and both of them sleep. It hit me then, that Luna sleeps like the logo of Final Fantasy XV. Noct is later added to the logo. The end card is truly a masterpiece. More tears are shed, louder 'NO!'s are shouted, ran out of handkerchiefs... it doesn't feel good my guys.

I read this somewhere, but when Noctis thought he was groomed to be king, he was actually groomed to die.

Hahaha thanks for making me feel worse.

I'm having a emotional fandom week (like how I was when I finished Sweet Pool, man that still fucks me up sometimes), can't go on with life without thinking about the poor souls and crying. Usually a week is enough for me to cool down and collect my thoughts and today is Saturday so yeah I'm feeling quite ok. When Yuri on Ice ep7 came out it was the same, except that I would cry in joy instead of sadness. My friends and classmates are fed up with me lmao.

Review: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (movie)

Fantastic Beasts. Ah how long have I waited for it to happen. To think it was approximately one year ago that the reveal trailer was out and every HP fan had their eyes gouged out of excitement! I read the textbook ‘written’ by Newt Scamander, oh boy was it great! But definitely I should have flipped through the book once more before I went to see the movie.

我简直是哭了。两次。还大喊大叫，被老妈骂说被鬼上身（差不多啦），最后我还在地上打滚傻笑。天啊啊啊啊啊！！！！我好开心！！！！已经九天了我还忘不了啊啊啊！！！

最近很多活动，更可恶的是有个偏偏落在CF2016的第一天！我买票了的啊！我先定下那天的！是你们应该改日期才对啊！我很生气！！！！现在在想要怎吧票卖掉，不然25块就这样浪费了。加上其他两个活动我觉得更要死了。两个都是被逼要参加的，其中一个关于生命科学的还好，另外个是AIDS海报设计比赛……唉那个真无聊。为了Malaysia Book of Records才办的，想要破什么《最多参赛者的海报设计比赛》？？海报的印刷还是消费很高的那种：glossy paper in A3？？想问主办当局有没有想过在参赛的都是学生啊？哪来那么多钱给你印个glossy paper海报？？？

Tl;dr，我的学校好无聊。

MSU啥？？？

MSU……啊啊啊……

老实说，我最不开心也只有不能穿短裤上课而已。

所以……我现在在个马来学校读书。本人对马来学校有偏见，因为经验告诉我他们会偷懒。

Orientation时期规定要穿formal。与我比较有交情的人知道我最讨厌dress code，现在它还要求要穿一个礼拜……我靠！不过我还是穿formal去了，能怎样？

Student handbook里面有写着学生的穿着：膝盖以上不得穿，无袖不得穿，拖鞋is no-no（虽然看到很多人穿），紧紧的衣服不能穿（还是很多女生穿紧身裤）等等……唉谁管他的，我即将成为学校里的时尚达人！！！Call me your fashionable senpai!!! *flips hair... i dont hv hair to flip lol*

最早的课有8点，最迟的有到11点晚上才放。目前为止我最早是9点，最迟到6点，所以有时候是老妈来在我回家。基本上现在是早上老豆载我去上课，如果是11点的课就自己搭巴士去学校。如果4点放学也是自己搭巴士回家。所以我的腿还蛮结实的，不过当我可以开车去学校时大概又会变回肥肉了。

说到车，我买车了！！银色Myvi一辆~可惜现在没有再出产Kenari了，要不然我是一定买Kenari的。本来如果买manual（stick）的话要等6个月才拿到车，我也很愿意等……orientation最后一天老妈载我回家时salesman打来说车已经有了？？嗯，才订车一个星期而已？？办完手续后隔天拿车！虽然我对车没要求（小是最好），可是晚上要去拿车时还挺兴奋的。原来买新车是那么地开心的（？）

开学前我把PS宝贝包得美美，想必以后没有时间去用……呵呵，才第4个星期功课堆积如山，脑袋冒烟时第一个想要做的就是玩Assassin's Creed。唉。

本以为（马来大学）不会烂到哪里去，不过事实证明我是错的。不管是小学中学大学都好，只要admin是马来人……都没什么好结过。我的课程没有mid sem，可是pharmacy有，他们需要课室和监考老师，所以这个星期完全没有课，因为老师们都被拉去‘站岗’了。好懒啊啊啊！！！！

给我那么多假期也没用，还好婆婆下来一个星期，我有时间练开车。在家里一直有东西没做好的感觉，又不能打机又不能出去玩（存钱CF花），坐在家里发呆上网……好颓废。

可以自己一个人开车了，不过parking还是很烂，除了park家里其它的都会歪掉不然就是出线。

上课第5个星期后发现我没有做功课的地方。因为我常常用电脑所以是不可能把电脑桌拿来用，工作室我也不愿意拿来用（位子够小了还要放课本我的天！）。解决方法：在书房做。书房的灯换了所以不会很热，可是在书房的玉石桌也只有那么一点点的位子。

好多报告和功课还没做，要死了。

QUICK REVIEW: Wolf Children, Kubo, Tsuritama, Kingsglaive

Quick review because I don't think I have much to write.


OOKAMI NO KODOMO AME TO YUKI
I am so late to this party. I already know what's in store for me but I'm just watching it for the feels. Boy was it an emotional ride. The parents' relationship is beautiful, it's not graphic (but I thought of omegaverse bc I'm full of sin) and it made me go 'awwww' until I remembered that wolf will die and I changed to 'NOOOOOO!!!!' The sad thing about this movie is not the struggles of the mother to protect her children, it is that they have to choose how to live their lives. The two of them tries to convince the other to live as a human and as a wolf respectively. The son used to be so unsure of his wolf side it is still a mystery how one accident can change his whole demeanor. The daughter in the other hand used to be more active as a wolf but soon decided to live as a human. It is sad that they can only choose one of the two, to live as a human or a wolf, but not both. It makes me think of people with mixed descent, but they cannot identify as any of their heritage because they are not 'black enough' or 'too fair' or they can only identify as one of their heritage but not both. It's sad. Of course you can identify as anything you wish but some people will always have something to say, so fuck them, be whatever you want to be.


KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS
I did not plan to watch this one in theaters because dad will download it sooner or later... if not for tumblr. Kubo seems to have fairly positive reviews but its box office sucks as hell so to show my support I watched it during an outing with a friend. I had my tissues ready because every animated film I've seen has made me cry and I doubt Kubo will be an exception. Kubo's a little kid with no dad, his mom has lost her mind and he makes money by his magic musical storytelling. He is warned to return home before sundown but one day he lingers too long and as the moon hangs in the sky ghostly figures (I kid you not, ghostly figure complete with ghostly music and ghostly chants of "Kubo...", and suddenly the ghostly figure splits into TWO ghostly figures like what in the world am I watching is this a horror movie goddamn) chase him down but not before his mother realizing he is in danger and comes to the rescue. She sends Kubo away and sacrifices herself to save her son.

Kubo wakes to the call of a monkey, travels to find two sacred pieces of armor and a sword to defeat the Moon King. He meets a beetle with amnesia on the way and they fight the ghostly figures, who are Kubo's aunts. They are here to retrieve Kubo's other eye. The monkey is revealed to be none other than Kubo's mom in temporary form, and the beetle? Kubo's supposed-to-be-dead dad. Of course. Of course. If you thought Kung Fu Panda was confusing already with a goose having a panda for a son, have fun explaining how Kubo has a beetle and a monkey for parents. So the two aunts get rekt, Kubo's parents die (of course), and he rekts the Moon King so hard with ghosts the Moon King gets amnesia and becomes a human. How's that?

I already knew Kubo's mom is a god of some sort bc who comes down from the heavens to kill a mortal and falls in love with said human? It's like Altair and Vega all over again, except this time everybody dies. What the movie depicted was true in most cultures: that gods are emotionless pricks and think humans are trash. Well, we are trash but you bloody gods don't have a say on what we are because you made us like this (SICK BURN). All and all it's an awesome movie, Laika studios did a great job, but I was disappointed the voice cast did not feature more Asian talents.


TSURITAMA
I was hoping to see some slice-of-life or school life but instead I got fishing tutorials. Can't say I'm upset though.

Tsuritama is... bizarre (cue the music!!!) to say the least. At first I was like, "oh, looks like slice-of-life, let's see..." then it turned out to be "no way what is this where did this alien plot come from". Tsuritama is about this guy (Yuki) who subconsciously makes an ugly face when anxious. He gets dragged into fishing business by a self-proclaimed alien (Haru) into fishing business and learns to do so by Natsuki aka Fishing Prince. Akira is a mysterious agent observing Haru the alien. But we all know who the real star of the show is: Tapioca the duck.


KINGSGLAIVE FINAL FANTASY XV
Basically the next best thing after Advent Children. Took them 11 years ha!

Kingsglaive received mixed reviews from movie-goers: those who said it was bad CLEARLY did not realize its purpose as exposition. Like, damn! They go all, "oh this looks pretty lets watch it" with no idea what the movie is about. Cliffhanger ending? Well shucks, you uncultured human! One does not simply go see a movie without research!

So basically Kingsglaive expands on the events that happen in the crown city while Noctis is off with his bros to meet Luna, his betrothed. While Luna is supposed to be escorted to another place (to meet Noctis), the plan fails and the princess is forced to go to the crown city. Enemy troops attack the city. Nyx, a refugee and part of the king's glaive (cue the music!), is tasked with the princess' safety. Conspiracies unfold and the princess is out of the wreck hurt, but a-okay. The crown city of Insomnia falls alongside with its king. Luna continues her journey to meet Noctis alone.

Tl;dr, everyone save for crouching guy and Luna dies, the kings of old are assholes.

After seeing this movie its time to watch the anime Brotherhood! The final episode comes out soon this month! Brotherhood explains more on Noctis' childhood flashbacks and past relationships with his bros. After that do yourself a favor and buy the game when it comes out. I heard it spans 10 years... so everyone gets a goatee (or beard)! It took SE 10 years to finally finish this goddamn game, we fans hope it is worth the wait.

I can't even believe it is happening. The game started out as Final Fantasy versus XIII and features a really different Noctis & co. with Lunafreya's predecessor, Stella. It was just three years ago Stella's role was scrapped, and just when she got a new CG render in E3 too...

Final Fantasy XV for PS4 and Xbox One is coming out on 29th of November 2016.

REVIEW: Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu (anime)

Current mood: I bet 10 dollars that he'll tell that story. I bet 10 dollars that kid's hers. I bet 10 dollars he's gunna die next episode. I bet infinity dollars I'm going to cry like a baby.

Man, that's a long ass title aint it? Even with the full kanji title I still dunno what it means. I can read the individual characters but this??? Nope. Like Tsuritama it's not really popular, but not a dump anime either. It's the only series I'm watching the same year it's released (jjba not included). Why did I even watch it, I'm not into historical drama and tbh the first few episodes were boring as hell. Because everyone gifs the bromance (or romance, you never know) of the two mains in the first arc. So close together oh my! I'm dying to know whatever the story is about!
